What is Refresh Rate?
The refresh rate refers to how many times per second a display updates its image, measured in Hertz (Hz).
- 60Hz = screen refreshes 60 times per second (~16.7ms per frame)
- 120Hz = screen refreshes 120 times per second (~8.3ms per frame)
A higher refresh rate means smoother motion, reduced blur, and a more lifelike experience—especially when scrolling, gaming, or watching fast-paced videos.
Why Does High Refresh Rate Matter?
Human eyes are more sensitive to motion than static images. When motion exceeds the limits of a 60Hz display, our brain perceives “choppiness” or lag.
- 60Hz → acceptable for static viewing, more power efficient.
- 120Hz → cuts frame intervals in half, filling the visual “gaps,” creating a silky-smooth effect that feels closer to reality.
